My current painting series employs acrylic and mixed media, harnessing natural forces and elements.
In this series, I explore the dynamic interplay of acrylic and mixed media, allowing the very forces of nature to guide my expression. Gravity, wind, heat, fire, and the alchemy of chemical reactions shape each piece. These materials are drawn from the earth itself: water, precious metals like gold, copper, silver, bronze, sand and pigments ground from stone, salts, oils, and a blend of familiar and unexpected mediums.
Fuelled by the allure of the unknown, as seen in aerial views and imagined exoplanet landscapes, the visual vocabulary of my work is informed by the elevated perspectives of terrestrial topography, the alien terrains of distant worlds, and the kaleidoscope of the universe coupled with a fascination of scientific exploration and the cosmic phenomena discovered within the realms of astronomy and astrophysics.
I am drawn to the mystery and grandeur of these unseen worlds, both known and beyond, separated by the vast darkness of space, illuminated by giant spherical balls of plasma the intricate patterns throughout the galaxy and on planet surfaces see from above naturally inspire a sense of awe and wonder. There's a feeling of being small in the face of something so mind boggling immense and beautiful yet a I also get a sense of connection and oneness.. Virtually every element in our bodies were forged from the life and death of distant stars.
